Guidelines for Citing or Reproducing Materials from Other Academic Societies<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

When reproducing<\/strong> a part of a scholarly journal or publication from another academic society, it is generally mandatory to obtain permission from the copyright holder.<\/strong> Even if the material is your own original work, if the copyright has been transferred, you must obtain permission from the new copyright holder (such as the society).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Copyright Act, however, includes a provision for “quotation” i<\/strong>n Article 32, which does not require the copyright holder’s permission. This is one of the “limitations on rights” <\/strong>provisions and is permitted only in specific, exceptional cases. How to Obtain Permission for Reproduction (Reprinting)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you wish to reproduce content, you must obtain written permission <\/strong>for reproduction from the copyright holder of that work. If publishing rights have been established, permission from the publishing rights holder (usually the publisher)<\/strong> is also required. Please note that there are no unified rules for the specific procedures; therefore, please contact the academic society or publisher that holds the copyright to confirm their specific process and complete the necessary steps.
